    33 ASIAN FENCERS MADE THE FIRST CUT TO RIO

    A total of 33 fencers from Asia has qualified to participate in the 2016 Rio Olympic Games following the qualification standards of the Federation Internationale D'Escrime. These 33 fencers represent 6 counties led by Korea with 14, followed by China with 11, four from Japan, two from Iran and one each from Hong Kong and Lebanon. Korea qualified a team for Men's Epee, Women's Epee and Saber, while China has a team in Men's Foil and Women's Epee.

    Ten more fencers are expected to make it to the Rio Olympics after the results of the Asian-Oceania Olympic Qualifiers are held in Wuxi China on April 11 and 12.
