    KOREA CONTINUES DOMINANCE OF AFC

Team Korea continues its domination of fencing in Asia as it led the medal table in the just concluded Blue Cross Insurance 2017 Asian Fencing Championships held in Hong Kong from June 15 to 20. Korea garnered a total of 7 gold medals with 6 silvers and 5 bronzes. China is second overall with a 4-1-6 slate, while Kazakhstan won a solitary gold medal courtesy of Ruslan Kurbanov in Men's Epee Individual event.

Host Hong Kong salvaged two silver medals and 6 bronzes amid all the accolade for having organize one of the best ever AFC held. Competition was held at the AsiaWorld Expo Center which is conveniently located very near the international airport.

Iran brought home a silver and bronze in the individual Men Saber event behind the gallant performance of Mohammed Rahbari and Ali Pakdaman, respectively. The Iranians also finish with a silver in the Men Saber team events, proving once again the countries strength in their favorite weapon.

Japan though was not to be unnoticed as they finished with one silver in the Women's Foil team event and six bronzes.

Overall, Asia has shown its readiness for another successful performance in the upcoming World Fencing Championships to be held in Leipzig Germany in July.
