    NEPAL'S 3RD NATONAL FENCING CHAMPIONSHIPS

    The Nepal Fencing Association has successfully organized the 3rd National Fencing Championship in Kathmandu, Nepal on January 4-6, 2018. The Championship is also one of the selection procedure for the 18th Asian Games, 2018 and 13th South Asian Games, 2019.

    The opening ceremony of the championship was inaugurated by the Chief Guest of the program Mr. Keshab Kumar Bista, Member Secretary of National Sports Council. During the opening ceremony VPs and members of Nepal Olympic Committee were also present. Total 96 fencers from following four team participated in the championship: a) Central Zone b) Western Zone c) Nepal Army d) Nepal Armed Police Force (APF Club)

    Mr. Rajan Raj Khadka of Nepal Army won the gold medal in Foil individual event (Male) and Ms. Sunita Budhathoki of same team won the gold medal in Foil Individual Event (Female). In Epee Individual event, Mr. Janga Giri of APF club and Ms. Anita Karki of APF club won Gold medal in Male & female category respectively. Similarly in Sabre Individual event Mr. Amit Bhandari of Central Zone and Ms. Kamala Shrestha of Nepal Army won the Gold Medal.

    In team event Nepal Army won Gold in Foil Event in both (Male & Female), APF Club won Gold in Epee (Men) whereas Nepal Army won Gold in Epee (Female). Likewise Central Zone won Gold in Sabre Team (Men) and Nepal Army won Gold in Sabre team (Female). The Vice President of National Sports Council as well as Secretary General of Nepal Olympic Committee, Mr. Lama Tendi Sherpa and members of Nepal Fencing Association distributed the medals to the winner.
