NEPAL'S 4th National Fencing Championship(8th National Games, 2019)

With the help of National Sports Council, 4th National Fencing Championship under the 8th National Games, 2019 was held in Banke, Nepalgunj, Nepal on April 11-14,2019. The Championship was held successful because of the more participants than previous edition. First time the official Fencing Championship was held in outside the Kathmandu (Capital of Nepal).

129 fencers from four Province and three department clubs had taken part in the Championship. The opening ceremony of the Championship was inaugurated by the Olympian Surendra Hamal. On the First day - April 11, 2019 final of Foil Men's Individual, Girls Epee Individual and Girls Saber Individual had been decided.

1) Mr. Jalindra Shahi-Foil Men's Individual-Gold-Nepal Army
2) Ms. Indira Poudel-Epee Women's Individual-Gold-Nepal Army
3) Ms. Kamal Shrestha-Sabre Women's Individual-Gold-Nepal Army

On 2nd day of the Championship - 12 April, 2019, following fencers clinched gold medal in their respective event:

1) Mr. Amit Bhandari-Sabre Men's Individual-Gold-Province 3
2) Mr. Omkar Singh-Epee Men's Individual-Gold-Province 3
3) Ms. Mandira Thapa-Foil Women's Individual-Gold-APF Club

In the meantime Nepal Army bagged the Gold Medal, Province no 3 won Silver Medal and Province 1 and 4 won the Bronze Medal in Foil Men's Team Event. Province no 3 clinched Gold Medal, APF Club got Silver and Nepal Army & Province 1 won Bronze Medals in Sabre Men's Team Event. Likewise, Nepal Army won Gold, APF Club Silver, Province 3 Bronze & Province 1 in Epee Women's Team Event.

On Third Day ( 13 April, 2019), rest all events were concluded, below team won Gold, Silver & Bronze Medal:

Foil Women's Team Event:

1) APF Club Gold
2) Nepal Army Silver
3) Province 3 Bronze
3) Province Bronze

Epee Men's Team Event:

1) APF Club Gold
2) Province 3 Bronze
3) Province 7 Bronze

Sabre Women's Team Event:

1) Nepal Army Gold
2) APF Club Silver
3) Province 3 Bronze
3) Province 1 Bronze

As per the record of the no. of medal bagged by the team, Nepal Army became the Team First, APF club became Team Second and Province no. 3 became Team Third of the Championship. Medal Ceremony of the Championship held on 14th April, 2019. Chief Guest of the Medal Ceremony Mr. Keshav Kumar Bista , Member Secretary of National Sports Council as well as the Chairperson of Secretariat of Organizing committee of 8th National Games, Special Guest Mr. Ratan Tandon, Treasurer of Nepal Olympic Committee, Mr. Sunil Kumar Shrestha, President of Nepal Fencing Association and Mr. Sujan Lal Shrestha, Secretary General of Nepal Fencing Association awarded Medal & Trophy to the Winner.
