WORLD JUNIORS/CADETS CHAMPIONSHIPS

Following the spread of the coronavirus, COVID-19, around the world, the International Fencing Federation has decided to cancel the 2020 World Juniors and Cadets Fencing Championships originally scheduled to be held in Salt Lake City USA at the start of April.

The FIE has announced that the said event would be postponed at a date later this year, after consultation with the Organizing Committee. The decision was premised on the following considerations: 1) so as not to deprive any federations or athletes of participation because of the pandemic that caused a lot of travel restrictions, 2) to preserve the health of athletes and delegations, and 3) in agreement with the requests of the FIE Athletes Commission.

In line with this decision, the FIE also cancelled all upcoming fencing competitions including some Grand Prix and World Cup events until further notice. The decision takes effect immediately.
